Rajasthan Launches ‘Apni Bus’ Service: Making Travel from Cities to Villages Easier
Jaipur created an important milestone in rural transportation as Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma flagged off 128 buses as ‘Aapni Bus Rajasthan Roadways.’

The launch aims to provide improved connectivity to remote rural areas, promoting inclusive and accessible public transport across Jaipur’s gram panchayats.

The Aapni Bus service will operate in 169 gram panchayats based on a revenue-sharing model involving private operators.

The saffron-colored buses, prominently carrying the RSRTC (Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation) logo, will depart from government roadways bus stands, ensuring reliable service for rural commuters.

Private operators involved in this initiative are required to pay RSRTC between Rs 5 to Rs 7 per kilometer. Meanwhile, passengers will be charged a nominal fare of Rs 1.5 per kilometer.

Notably, RSRTC will reimburse private operators for concession fares given to women and senior citizens, enhancing affordability for key demographic groups.

The buses vary in seating capacity from 22 to 45 seats and are equipped with advanced safety and convenience features such as GPS, panic button systems, and vehicle tracking, ensuring passenger safety and operational efficiency.

Adding to passenger comfort, RSRTC has introduced catering facilities on its Volvo, Scania, and AC buses. According to an official statement, passengers will now be able to order meals and beverages to their seats based on specific breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, creating a new level of service for bus travelers in Rajasthan.

This initiative marks a significant step toward bridging the urban-rural divide in transport services and reflects a progressive vision for rural mobility and modern amenities on public transport.
