The event saw the presence of Transport Minister Pankaj Singh and several senior BJP officials.
This initiative marks a significant step under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnect (DEVI) scheme, aimed at reducing pollution and improving last-mile connectivity across Delhi’s narrow lanes and smaller colonies—areas where larger buses face operational challenges.
According to the Delhi government, vehicle emissions contributed to nearly 45% of air pollution in 2024. With the rollout of these 100% electric mini-buses, the government hopes to bring a significant drop in pollution levels over the coming years.
Each Devi E-Bus is 9 meters long, making it ideal for navigating Delhi’s tighter roads. Despite its compact size, each bus can accommodate up to 25 passengers, including six reserved seats for women, two for persons with disabilities, and one for freedom fighters.
Powered by a 196 kW battery, each bus boasts a range of 225 km on a single 45-minute charge, helping ensure quick turnaround and extended service hours.
Fare for the general public will range between ₹10 to ₹30, while women passengers will continue to enjoy free travel—a key component of Delhi’s inclusive public transport policy.
This rollout is just the beginning. CM Rekha Gupta announced plans to introduce an additional 2,080 electric buses by the end of this year, ensuring cleaner, safer, and more efficient transport for all of Delhi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party reiterated its commitment to making Delhi a smarter, cleaner, and commuter-friendly city for the future.
