No Buses in Shimla From Monday Leads to Inconvenience to Residents

From Monday 03-November-2025, all private bus drivers in Shimla city decided to stop operating and go on strike, because they're not happy with the new circulations with government buses or HRTC buses coming into the city.
No Buses in Shimla From Monday Leads to Inconvenience to Residents

According to them government buses that travel from different states or region 40 km far from the shimla, keep coming into the city center. Which leads too much traffic and jams with in the city.

Which results in less business for their private buses because people prefer government buses over private buses.

They want all of these long-distance government buses to stop outside the city at a place called Tutikandi. Which is nearly 5-6 km away from the main city center.

According to them, there was an agreement made in 2011 that these buses should stop there, but it's not being followed now days.

The Transport Minister for the Himachal Pradesh government, is not happy with this demand and according to him thousands of poor people, students, farmers, and workers travel from villages to Shimla every day.

If government buses stop outside the shimla, all these people will have to pay extra money to private buses or local transport just to reach the city center. This is unfair and will hurt common people, especially those who can't afford extra fares for travelling.

When private buses don't run, students going to school, people going to offices, and daily travelers face huge problems because they have no way to travel within the city. The government is now running extra HRTC buses to help people during the strike.

In short: It's like two groups of bus operators fighting over who gets to drive passengers in the city, but regular people—especially students and workers—are the ones suffering because they can't get to school or work easily.
